High on Waves

Sri Adiguru Shankaracharya

Always roaming in the grove of Vedanta
Ever content, with his beggar's morsel
Wandering onward, his heart free from, sorrow
Blessed indeed is the wearer of the loincloth!

Sitting for shelter at the foot of a tree
Eating from his hands his meagre portion
Spurning wealth as a patched-up garment
Blessed indeed is the wearer of the loincloth!

Fully satisfied by the Bliss within
Curbing wholly the cravings of the senses
Delighting day and night in the Bliss of Brahman
Blessed indeed is the wearer of the loincloth!

Witnessing the changes in body and mind
beholding within him nothing but the Self
Headless of outer, inner and middle.
Blesses indeed is the wearer of the loincloth!

Chanting 'Brahman' , the mantra of redemption
Meditating upon, 'I am Brahman'
Living on alms and wandering free
Blessed indeed is the wearer of the loincloth!
